SAPULPA, Oklahoma — Friday night's American Sprint Car Series program at Creek County Speedway has been canceled as severe weather threatens the opening night of Fuzzy's Fall Fling. Organizers announced the change Wednesday, October 14, citing multiple days of rain along with forecasts calling for high winds and unusually cold temperatures.
Saturday, October 17, remains on the schedule as the series turns its attention to a $10,000-to-win championship finale. The event is set to decide both the ASCS National Tour and ASCS Sooner Region championships.
Two titles still on the line
Sam Hafertepe Jr. enters the finale with a 21-point lead over Matt Covington in the ASCS National Tour battle for the Emmett Hahn Trophy. In the Sooner Region standings, Bradley Fezard holds a 74-point advantage over Casey Wills.
With Friday removed from the schedule, Saturday's remaining championship program will carry all the attention at the Oklahoma dirt track. Officials described Saturday's forecast favorably in their October 14 announcement, though fans traveling to Sapulpa should monitor the series and speedway for any further weather-related changes.
