LAWRENCEBURG, Ind. — October 9, 2026
For most of Friday night's 30-lap USAC AMSOIL Sprint Car National Championship feature at Lawrenceburg Speedway, Kyle Cummins looked untouchable. Jake Swanson had other ideas.
Swanson charged from fourth on the grid, reeled Cummins in through lapped traffic and grabbed the lead on lap 27. He then survived one final attack from Briggs Danner to win the third annual Greg Staab Memorial by just 0.257 seconds.
The victory was Swanson's third USAC National Sprint Car win of the season and 10th of his career — but his first at Lawrenceburg, where he had repeatedly come close without reaching victory lane.
Traffic Changes Everything
Cummins led the opening 26 laps after an explosive start and appeared to be heading toward a repeat victory. As the leaders reached slower cars, Swanson steadily erased the gap. With four laps remaining, traffic unsettled Cummins' rhythm and Swanson took advantage, moving to the front while Danner also slipped past into second.
Danner mounted a last-lap challenge, briefly getting ahead with a slide-job attempt in turns one and two. Swanson kept his momentum, retook the advantage down the backstretch and held on at the flag.
Swanson collected the $6,544 winner's prize in a race that required precision against Lawrenceburg's demanding cushion.
